The Benefits of Loyalty Programs

Loyalty programs can bring in repeat business and save the customer money. They really can be a win-win for both the business and customers. Below are some things businesses should keep in mind when it comes to developing loyalty programs.

Get the Word Out

As with every other aspect of your business, if your customers and potential customers do not know about your loyalty programs then you have wasted your time and money. Be sure to include advertising and marketing efforts for any loyalty programs that you offer.

Get Employees On Board

You have to be sure that all of your employees get into the habit of asking each customer if they want to join the loyalty program. Be sure that every employee is fully versed on the benefits of the program and consider setting up an incentive plan that will motivate the employees to really try and get the customers to sign up.

The Card Matters

The type of card that you choose for loyalty programs does matter. A customer is not very likely to hang on to a sheet of paper or piece of cardboard. A plastic card is the best option as they can just keep it with their credit cards. Offering a keychain tag is also a good idea.

Make It Count

When it comes to loyalty programs, if a business doesn’t make it count then it will not be successful. For example, if the reward is a $2 coupon after they spend $5000, that might not be very motivating to most customers. If, however, the offer is something more substantial, such as a shopping pass for 20% off the entire purchase, the loyalty program will likely be more successful.

Many businesses have had great success with loyalty programs. Just take care when developing the program that the customer will find value in the offers and that the employees and marketing campaign will help add to its success.
